Lightwire Theater's The Ugly Duckling to Light Up Roswell Cultural Arts Center

The Roswell Cultural Arts Center will host two electrifying performances of Lightwire Theater’s luminescent interpretation of Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairy tale The Ugly Duckling. On May 6, the internationally acclaimed New Orleans-based troop will perform at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. as part of this year’s Roswell Family Series.

With their cutting-edge blend of dance and puppetry, Lightwire Theater combines technology with art to create unique performances that wowed fans across the United States during their appearances on the 2012 season of America’s Got Talent, in which Lightwire was named the runner-up. The troop has received much critical acclaim; Rolling Stone magazine raved that Lightwire is “absolutely incredible.”

The Ugly Duckling
will be performed in total darkness, illuminated only by the thin light strips that outline the costumes worn by the performers. With dazzling visuals, poignant choreography and the creative use of music ranging from classical to pop, this production brings a classic story into a new and brilliant light.

This show is recommended for children ages 4 and up. Due to the darkness of the theater, late seating will not be allowed for these performances. A question and answer session with the artists will follow the 45-minute performance.

Individual tickets are $12 for ages 2 and up and can be purchased at roswellcac.com, by calling 770-594-6232, or in-person at the box office. Group rates are also available.

The Roswell Family Series is sponsored by Publix Super Markets Charities, The Current Hub, Appen Media and Rubicon Studios.

The Roswell Cultural Arts Center is part of the Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic & Cultural Affairs Department and is located at 950 Forrest Street in Roswell, Georgia 30075, www.roswellcac.com or 770-594-6232.
