Overview

The City of Roswell is leading a preservation-focused Master Plan for Roswell's Historic District that will establish a detailed vision for the district as a sustainable and thriving downtown that protects historic character and resources. The plan will also recommend potential changes to City regulations and standards to support this vision. This will occur over a 6-month period that includes many opportunities for public input.

The City is planning walking tours of the historic district, work sessions, a charrette, and a survey to get the public's input in this process. Mayor and Council have also appointed local residents to an Historic District Master Plan Advisory Committee which will assist in formulating the charrette, discuss public input, and help formulate the master plan.

City Council approved the Historic District Master Plan created by TSW Design on August 12, 2019.

Project Goal
The City of Roswell is working with a consulting team (TSW Design) to create a Historic District Master Plan. This plan is preservation focused with specific emphasis on four target areas within the City's existing Historic District. In addition to the vision plan and technical documents, the document should include recommended regulations and design standards. TSW has experience in the fields of land use, urban design, historic preservation, contemporary planning codes, and architectural guidelines, with a major focus on historic preservation. The goal of this Roswell Historic District Master Plan is to establish a vision and a well-developed and feasible implementation plan to create a sustainable and thriving historic downtown environment, for the targeted areas, that protects the historic character and resources and also reflect the common goals and objectives of community stakeholders.
