American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) The federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocates $1.9 trillion to COVID-19 relief and economic recovery, including $1.4 billion set aside for Georgia cities and towns.

The City of Roswell will receive $11.4 million in emergency funding in two payments: One payment was received in May 2021, and the second no sooner than May 2022.

Funds must be spent by the end of 2026.

How Funds Can Be Spent

The ARPA funds may be used in a variety of ways to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, including:
  • Responding to the public health emergency and/or its negative economic impacts
  • Premium pay for workers performing essential work during the pandemic
  • Providing government services impacted by the revenue loss due to COVID-19
  • Investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure

Next Steps

The City of Roswell conducted a community-wide survey in December 2021 to gather feedback from our residents and business owners regarding how ARPA funds might best be spent.

The results of the survey will be presented and further discussion will take place during the City Council Work Session on January 31, 2022.
