Jeffery Lanier Major Jeffrey Lanier has 32 years of Law Enforcement experience. He attended the Public Safety Training Institute (Clayton County) in 1992. He was hired by the Roswell Police Department in 1993 to serve as a Detention Officer. In 1994 he transferred to the Uniform Patrol Division as a Patrol Officer. Major Lanier worked as a Field Training Officer in the Uniform Patrol Division. He transferred to the Traffic Enforcement Unit where he served as a motorcycle officer. A part of his duties in the Traffic Enforcement Unit was investigating serious injury and fatality traffic accidents. He worked in the Crime Suppression Unit, focusing on bridging community policing and focusing on specialized criminal activity.

Major Lanier was appointed to the North Fulton Drug Task Force, where he worked as a detective. He was promoted to Sergeant, where he worked as a patrol supervisor and CID Detective Sergeant. He was promoted to Lieutenant, where he served as the Departmental Training Coordinator, Evening Watch Patrol Commander, TEU Commander, CSU Commander, UPD C Squad Commander, and in the Criminal Investigations Division. Major Lanier served on the SWAT Team for ten years, spending approximately 5 years as a Team Leader.

Major Lanier teaches many police officers various subject matters. He holds Instructor Certifications as a General Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor (GST/Jiu-jitsu Instructor), Firearms Instructor, Use of Force Instructor, and Driving Instructor. He has achieved his State of Georgia Supervisory and Managerial Certifications.
Major Lanier has earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Phoenix and his Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University. He has attended and completed the University of Georgia Carl Vision Management School. Major Lanier has also attended and completed his studies through Northwestern University Police Command program.
