The City of Roswell offers its employees a comprehensive benefits package which enables it to recruit and retain high-quality employees across the organization. Many of the benefits offered are designed to improve the quality of life of the City's employees. Some of these benefits are traditional, but others are examples of the City's progressive work environment.
Benefits are available for full time employees. Benefits begin the 1st of the month following your date of hire. Contributions to your retirement begin immediately.

Retirement
Defined Contribution (DC) Plan through MissionSquare. The City automatically contributes 10% of an employee's base pay each pay period into a 401a account. If an employee contributes, there is an additional one to one match from the city of up to 5% as well as another 1% if the employee contributes another 2%. In total, the city may contribute a maximum of 16% to an employee's retirement. There is a vesting schedule of 20% per year for the 401a plan. The employee's pre-tax contribution goes into a 457b account.Medical Insurance
The city is self-insured which results in lower premiums for employees. A large portion of the premiums are paid by the City and there are different tiers for employees to choose from. There are three types of High Deductible Plans available and one Traditional PPO plan with co-pays. The High Deductible Health Plans come with a Health Savings Plan (HSA) in which the city makes a generous contribution. Employee can also contribute to their HSA with pre-tax dollars.Flexible Spending Accounts
Healthcare FSA, Limited FSA (Dental and Vision expenses only) and a Dependent Care FSA are available allowing employees to set aside pre-tax dollars.Wellness Program
The city has a comprehensive wellness program consisting of free classes, a gym, and an On-Site Health Clinic staffed by a Nurse Practitioner just for employees. Participation in the Wellness Program results in a $40 credit each pay period towards an employee's medical premiums.Dental Insurance
Two dental insurance plans are offered to full time employees (in-network plan and an out-of-network plan). Cost sharing between the City and employee. Free for employee only in-network plan.Vision Insurance
Vision insurance is offered to full time employees and the low premiums are paid by the employee.Basic Life/Voluntary Life Insurance
Basic Life is paid for by the City. Coverage is equal to 3 times salary for employee, $5,000 for spouse, and $2,500 for each child. Additional term life insurance is available, paid by the employee - rates are based on age and amount of coverage.Short Term & Long Term Disability Insurance

Eligible after 1 year of full time service; up to $5,250 per calendar year.Paid Time Off (PTO)
Accrual will begin from the initial date of full time employment and is based on years of service.Regular Full-Time Employees:
- 0 – 4 years accrues at 3.7 hours per pay period (96 hours per year) and can roll over 120 hours each year
- 5 – 9 years accrues at 5.23 hours per pay period (136 hours per year) and can roll over 160 hours each year
- 10 + years accrues at 6.77 hours per pay period (176 hours per year) and can roll over 200 hours each year
Fire Department 24 Hour Personnel:
- 0 – 4 years accrues at 5.18 hours per pay period (134 hours per year) and can roll over 162 hours each year
- 5 – 9 years accrues at 7.32 hours per pay period (190 hours per year) and can roll over 216 hours each year
- 10 + years accrues at 9.48 hours per pay period (246 hours per year) and can roll over 270 hours each year
Sick Leave
Accrual will begin from the initial day of full time employment. For regular full-time employees, 96 hours are accrued each year (3.70 hours per pay period) up to a maximum of 1,120 hours. For Fire Department 24 hour personnel, 130 hours are accrued each year (5.0 hours per pay period) up to a maximum of 1,512 hours. Once per year, employees with a balance of at least 272 hours, have the option to transfer to their PTO balance or receive monetary compensation for up to 32 hours of sick leave.Compensatory (Comp) Time
Non-exempt employees may earn comp time in lieu of being paid overtime for hours worked over 40 in one work week. Balance may not exceed 80 hours at any given time.Funeral
Up to three (3) days paid are provided for regular full time employees in event of the death of an immediate family member.Jury Duty
Paid leave provided for full time employees. Unpaid leave of absence granted for part-time and/or temporary employees.Civic Engagement/Volunteerism Leave
A full-time employee may use up to 24 hours per calendar year for the purpose of participating in volunteer activities and civic engagement programs that support and enhance the community in Roswell and that positively impact the issues affecting quality of life for our citizens.Holidays
