Roswell Celebrates #GivingTuesday
The City of Roswell encourages residents to take part in Giving Tuesday on Dec. 3 and has partnered with over 30 local nonprofits to help.
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Every year since the event was first launched in 2012, millions of people across the globe mobilize on Giving Tuesday to show up, give back, and change their communities.
Roswell helps local nonprofits through its Nonprofit Partnership Program (NPP), which provides training, networking opportunities, and community updates in City-sponsored forums, seminars, and emails, as well as assistance in finding and submitting much-needed grants. It also acts as a way for residents to connect with these nonprofits, their missions, and to volunteer.
“Roswell’s nonprofits positively impact our community every day, from creating social connections for seniors to delivering specialized youth activities to aiding families in need,” said Alison Bounds, Roswell’s Grants Coordinator and Nonprofit Partnership manager. “We want to connect our residents to these organizations with the hope that residents will find one whose mission speaks to them and connect on Giving Tuesday and beyond.”
Working Together for Our Community
Nonprofits do vital work within communities, but too often, these organizations struggle to find and retain funding, support, volunteers, and public awareness. Building on the idea that there is strength in numbers, the City of Roswell's Grants Division has established the Nonprofit Partnership Program (NPP). NPP helps organizations providing services in Roswell to address these challenges with the City's help. In addition, NPP facilitates collaborations and provides support to expand each organization's capacity to serve Roswell residents.Organizations participating in NPP are able to receive:
- Training, networking opportunities, and community updates through City-sponsored forums, seminars, and emails
- Prospect research and guidance on the development of grants
- Marketing support to garner the time, talent, and treasure of those interested in engaging with the organization
- A formal City partnership to expand funding opportunities and strengthen grant proposals
