Responsibilities
The Planning and Zoning Division is responsible for current and long-range planning activities that guide the orderly growth and development of Roswell.These planning activities are performed through implementation of the Unified Development Code, which includes code enforcement, along with shaping growth and redevelopment to meet the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
This Division prepares and presents recommendations that ensure compliance with the Zoning Ordinance and the Comprehensive Plan in partnership with various boards and commissions to achieve a livable city while balancing the needs of residents and businesses.

New Advertising Requirements for Variances
Due to changes in state law, there are new advertising requirements for variances and concurrent variances that are heard before Mayor and Council and variances that are heard before the Board of Zoning Appeals:- Signs must be posted on the property 30 days prior to a hearing.
- Ads must run in the paper 30 days prior to a hearing.
